16 — Ishāq ibn Ismā‘īl narrated to us: Jarīr and Abū Mu‘āwiyah narrated to us, from al-A‘mash, from Yazīd ibn Hayyān, from ‘Anbas ibn ‘Uqbah al-Taymī, who said: ‘Abdullāh ibn Mas‘ūd (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “By Him besides whom there is no deity, nothing on earth stands in greater need—and Abū Mu‘āwiyah said, ‘is more in need’—of prolonged confinement than the tongue.”
