149 — Abdullah narrated to us, saying: Ibn Abī Shaybah narrated to us: Hafs ibn Ghiyāth narrated to us, from Ismā'īl ibn Abī Khālid, from Mus'ab ibn Sa'd, who said: Umar ibn Sa'd came to his father to ask him for something, but while presenting his request, he used affected language. Sa'd—may Allah be pleased with him—said to him, “You have never been further from having your request granted than you are today. I heard the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—say: ‘A time will come upon people when they will twist their tongues around words, just as cattle wrap their tongues around grass.’”
