Ibn Abī Shaybah narrated to us: al-Muhāribī narrated to us, from Layth, from Abd al-Malik, from Ikrimah, from Ibn Abbās—may Allah be pleased with them both—who said: The Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—said: “Do not engage your brother in disputation or joke with him, and do not make him a promise and then break it.”
