110 — Ahmad ibn Īsā al-Misrī narrated to us. Dimām ibn Ismā‘īl al-Iskandarānī narrated to us. Yazīd ibn Abī Habīb and Mūsā ibn Wardān narrated to me, from Ka‘b ibn ‘Ujrah—may Allah be pleased with him—that the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—noticed that Ka‘b was absent and asked about him. They replied, “He is ill.” He then set out on foot and came to him. When he went in to see him, he said, “Rejoice, Ka‘b!” His mother said, “May Paradise be a joy to you, Ka‘b.” The Prophet said, “Who is this woman presuming to declare what Allah will do?” He replied, “She is my mother, O Messenger of Allah.” He then said, “How do you know, mother of Ka‘b? Perhaps Ka‘b spoke about something that did not concern him or withheld something that would not have made him any richer.”
