109 — ‘Abd al-Rahmān ibn Sālih al-Azdī narrated to me. Yahyā ibn Ya‘lā al-Aslamī narrated to us, from al-A‘mash, from Anas ibn Mālik—may Allah be pleased with him—who said: “A young man from among us was martyred on the day of Uhud. He was found with a stone tied over his stomach because of hunger. His mother brushed the dust from his face and said, ‘May Paradise be a joy to you, my son.’ The Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—said, ‘How do you know? Perhaps he used to speak about things that did not concern him and withhold things whose giving would not have harmed him.’”
