69 – ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Waqid wrote to me; al-Walid ibn Muslim transmitted it to us, from Zuhayr, from Muhammad ibn al-Munkadir, from Jabir ibn ‘Abd Allah, who said:
When the Messenger of Allah recited Surah al-Rahman to his Companions and completed it, he said, “Why do I see you sitting in silence? The jinn gave a better reply than you. Each time I recited to them, ‘So which of your Lord’s favors will you both deny?’ (55:13), they responded, ‘Our Lord, we deny none of Your blessings.’” He (the narrator) added—and, to the best of my knowledge, he also said—“So to You belongs all praise.”
