Al-ShukrIbn Abi al-Dunya

67 – Dāwūd ibn Rushayd narrated to us; al-Walīd ibn Muslim transmitted it from Ibn Jābir, who said that ʿAbd Allah ibn ʿUmar ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz told him:

Whenever ʿUmar ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz fixed his gaze upon any favor that Allah had granted him, he would say, “O Allah, I seek refuge in You from ever exchanging Your blessings for ingratitude, from denying them after recognizing them, or from forgetting them so that I fail to praise You for them.”
