Al-ShukrIbn Abi al-Dunya

52 – ʿUbayd Allah ibn ʿUmar al-Qawārīrī narrated to me; Hishām ibn ʿAbd al-Malik related; Shuʿbah transmitted; from Abū Isḥāq; from Abū al-Aḥwaṣ; from his father, who said:

I came to the Messenger of Allah in a rather shabby state. He asked, “Do you have any wealth?” I replied, “Yes.” He said, “What kind of wealth?” I said, “All kinds—Allah has granted me camels, horses, servants, and sheep.” He said, “When Allah grants you wealth, let its trace be visible upon you.”
