49 – Al-Haytham ibn Kharijah narrated to me; ʿAbd Rabbihi ibn ʿAbd Allah al-Filastini related to us; from Hilal ibn Yazid al-Madani; from Anas ibn Malik, who reported that the Prophet said:
“There is no servant who puts his trust in worshipping Allah without the heavens and the earth becoming liable for his provision—meaning his sustenance. Allah then places that provision in the hands of the children of Adam; they work with it until they deliver it to him. If the servant accepts it, gratitude becomes obligatory upon him; but if he refuses, the All-Self-Sufficient, the Praiseworthy, will find impoverished servants who will take that provision and thank Him.”
