47 – Al-Ḥasan ibn al-Ṣabbāḥ al-Bazzār narrated to me; Muḥammad ibn Sulaymān related to us; Hishām ibn Ziyād informed us, from Abū al-Zinād, from al-Qāsim ibn Muḥammad, from ʿĀʾishah, who traced it back to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):

“Whenever Allah bestows a blessing upon a servant and the servant recognizes that it is from Allah, gratitude for it is immediately recorded for him. Whenever Allah knows of a servant’s remorse for a sin, the servant is forgiven even before he asks for pardon. Indeed, a man may purchase a garment for a single dinar, put it on, praise Allah, and the garment will not yet have reached his knees before he is forgiven.”
