43 – Abu ʿAli al-Madaʾini told me; he said: Ibrahim ibn al-Hasan narrated to me, from a shaykh known as Abu Jaʿfar, from Malik ibn Dinar, who said: “I read in some of the earlier scriptures that Allah says: ‘O child of Adam, My goodness descends to you while your evil deeds rise up to Me. I seek to endear Myself to you through blessings, yet you estrange yourself from Me by sinning. And there is never a moment when a noble angel does not ascend to Me bearing from you some shameful act.’”
