37 – ʿAlī ibn al-Jaʿd narrated to us; I heard Sufyān ibn Saʿīd, and when he mentioned David the Prophet (peace be upon him) he said: David declared, “Praise belongs to Allah—praise commensurate with the generosity of my Lord’s Noble Face, Majestic is His Glory!” Thereupon Allah revealed to him: “O David, you have wearied the angels.”
