195 – Salamah ibn Shabīb narrated to us; Sahl ibn ʿĀṣim narrated to us; Isḥāq ibn Buhlūl narrated; I heard ʿAbāʾah ibn Kulayb say:
Ibn al-Sammāk wrote to me:
“To proceed: I am writing to you while I am both cheerful and hidden from disgrace, and by those two states I have been beguiled. A sin whose trace He has concealed has left me content with myself, as though it were already forgiven; and favors He has bestowed have made me rejoice, as though I had fulfilled the duties they entail. Oh, if only I knew what the ultimate consequences of all these matters will be!”
