189 – ʿAbd Allah ibn Abi Badr narrated to me; Ismaʿil ibn Ibrahim narrated to us; from al-Jurayri; from Abu al-Ward ibn Thumamah; from ʿAmr ibn Mirdas; from Kaʿb, who said:
“No servant is granted a blessing by Allah in this world, then gives thanks to Allah for it and humbles himself because of it for Allah’s sake, without Allah granting him its benefit in this life and, through it, raising him one degree in the Hereafter.
And no servant is granted a blessing by Allah in this world yet fails to thank Allah for it and to humble himself because of it for Allah’s sake, without Allah withholding its benefit from him in this life and opening for him a tier of the Fire, punishing him with it if He wills, or pardoning him if He wills.”
