175 – ʿAli ibn Shuʿayb narrated to us; Muhammad ibn Ismaʿil reported to us, from Abu Madyan; Muhammad ibn ʿAmr reported, saying: “I heard al-Sariyy ibn ʿAbd Allah while he was in al-Taʾif and rain had come down upon us. He addressed the people and said,

“O people, praise Allah for the provision He has laid at your disposal, for it has reached me that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ‘When Allah bestows a blessing upon a servant, and the servant praises Him for it, he has thereby fulfilled its gratitude.’”
