169 – ʿAlī ibn Ḥarb al-Ṭāʾī narrated to us; Ḥusayn ibn ʿAlī al-Juʿfī narrated to us; from Abū Mūsā, who said:
Whenever ʿAmr was served his food, he would keep it covered until he had recited these words:
“Praise be to Allah who has guided us, fed us, given us drink, and showered us with His favors. Allah is Most Great. O Allah, Your blessings have embraced us even though we are surrounded by every evil, yet through them we greet morning and evening in every good. Whatever completeness and gratitude You will for them belongs to You alone. There is no good except Your good, and there is no deity besides You—the God of the righteous and Lord of all worlds. Praise belongs to Allah; there is no deity but You. Whatever Allah wills occurs; there is no power except through Allah. O Allah, bless for us what You have provided and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.”
