147 – Al-Hasan narrated to me; al-Ḥārith narrated to me; ʿAbd Allāh ibn Wahb narrated to us; ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Zayd ibn Aslam narrated to us, who said: “Some scholars have recorded—in certain Scriptures that Allah revealed—that Allah said: ‘Gladden My believing servant.’ Accordingly, nothing pleasing ever reached him except that he would say, ‘All praise is for Allah, all praise is for Allah; whatever Allah wills.’ Then Allah said: ‘Alarm My believing servant.’ Yet no harbinger of hardship approached him without his saying, ‘All praise is for Allah, all praise is for Allah.’ Allah then said: ‘I see My servant praising Me when I alarm him just as he praises Me when I delight him. Admit My servant into the Garden of Eden, for he praises Me in every circumstance.’”}
