145 – It has reached me from Ibn Abī al-Ḥawārī, who said: Muʾminah al-Mutaʿabbidah once remarked, “Something has preoccupied my heart.” I asked, “What is it?” She answered, “I long to perceive Allah’s blessing upon me for even the blink of an eye, or else be punished for my failure to show gratitude for that blessing for the blink of an eye.” I said to her, “You are seeking something our minds are unable to attain.”
