144 – Abu Ḥātim narrated to me; Aḥmad ibn Abī al-Ḥawārī transmitted—I heard Muḥammad ibn Isḥāq of Acre say: I heard Abū Muʿāwiyah al-Aswad al-Yaman, the devotee, declare, “Allah is too generous to grant a blessing without perfecting it, or to allow someone to employ that blessing in a deed without then accepting it.”
