125 – Al-Haytham ibn Khalid related to me; al-Haytham ibn Jamil narrated to us, from ʿUqbah ibn ʿAbd Allah al-Rifaʿi, who said:
“I entered—together with Bakr ibn ʿAbd Allah al-Muzani—to visit Abu Tamimah al-Hujani while he was ill. Bakr asked him, ‘How are you this morning, Abu Tamimah?’
He replied, ‘This morning I find myself between two favors, wavering between them, and I do not know which is the greater: a sin that Allah has concealed, so I have no fear of anyone reproaching me for it, and a fondness Allah has placed in people’s hearts for me, though I have done nothing to merit it.’”
