11 – Ismaʿil ibn Ibrahim narrated to us; ʿAbd al-Muʾmin ibn ʿUbayd Allah al-Sadusi, Abu ʿUbayda, related that al-Hasan would begin every talk of his with the words:

“Praise belongs to Allah. O Allah, our Lord, to You is all praise for having created us, provided for us, guided us, taught us, saved us, and relieved our distress. To You is praise for the blessing of Islam and of the Quran, and to You is praise for family, wealth, and wellbeing. You have humiliated our enemy, broadened our provision, made our security manifest, gathered our scattered ranks, and perfected our health. By Allah, whatever we have asked of You, our Lord, You have granted us; so to You belongs abundant praise for all of that. To You is praise for every favor You have bestowed upon us—ancient or recent, concealed or public, particular or general, for the living or the dead, for the present or the absent. To You is praise until You are pleased, and to You is praise when You are pleased.”
