839 – Abū Bakr Ja‘far ibn Muhammad al-Firyābī narrated to us: Abū Bakr ibn Abī Shaybah informed us: ‘Abd al-Rahmān ibn Mahdī narrated to us, from Sufyān—that is, Ibn Sa‘īd al-Thawrī—from his father, from Khaythamah, from al-Barā’ ibn ‘Āzib, regarding the words of Allah—Majestic is His Glory—: “Allah makes firm those who believe with the firm word in the life of this world and in the Hereafter” [Ibrāhīm: 27]. He said: “It was revealed concerning the punishment of the grave.”
