great tribulations have already occurred. Some people were saved from them, while others perished because they followed their whims and preferred this world. When Allah wills good for someone, He opens for him the door of supplication; he seeks refuge in his Generous Lord, fears for his religion, guards his tongue, understands the age in which he lives, adheres to the clear path and the main body of the Muslims, remains unwavering in his religion, and worships his Lord Most High. He therefore refrains from wading into tribulation, for many people are exposed when tribulation strikes. Have you not heard the words of the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) when he warned his community against tribulations? He said: “A man will be a believer in the morning and a disbeliever by evening; or he will be a believer in the evening and a disbeliever by morning.”
