794 — Abū Muhammad ibn Sāid narrated to us: al-Hasan ibn Abd al-Azīz al-Jarawī narrated to us: Bishr ibn Bakr al-Tinnīsī narrated to us. ⦗1226⦘ Ibn Sāid said: Yūsuf ibn Saīd al-Missīsī also narrated to us: Umāra ibn Bashīr narrated to us—the wording is that of Bishr ibn Bakr—he said: Abd al-Rahmān ibn Yazīd ibn Jābir narrated to us: I heard Sulaym ibn Āmir say: I heard Awf ibn Mālik al-Ashjaī say:

“We were with the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—when he said, ‘Do you know what choice my Lord, Mighty and Majestic, gave me?’

“We replied, ‘Allah and His Messenger know best.’

“He said, ‘He gave me the choice between admitting half of my nation into Paradise and intercession, and I chose intercession.’

“We said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, ask Allah to make us among those for whom it will be granted.’

“He replied, ‘It is for every Muslim.’”
