76 — Abū al-Qāsim Abd Allāh ibn Muhammad also narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Abd al-Malik ibn Abī al-Shawārib narrated to us, saying: Abd al-Wāhid ibn Ziyād narrated to us, saying: Āsim informed us ⦗390⦘, from Abū Kabsha, who said: I heard Abū Mūsā say from the pulpit: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
“Ahead of you lie periods of civil strife like patches of a pitch-dark night. During them, a man will be a believer in the morning and an unbeliever by evening, or a believer in the evening and an unbeliever by morning. The one sitting during them will be better than the one standing, the one standing better than the one walking, and the one walking better than the one hastening.”
They asked, “What, then, do you command us to do?”
He replied, “Keep steadfastly to your homes.”
