761 — Abū Bakr Qāsim ibn Zakariyyā al-Mutarriz narrated to us: al-Fadl ibn ⦗1187⦘ Sahl al-Araj narrated to us: Abū Āsim informed us, from Sufyān—meaning al-Thawrī—from Amr ibn Murrah, from Abū Ubaydah, from Abū Mūsā, may Allah be pleased with him, who said: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, stood among us and delivered four statements. He said:
“Indeed, Allah—Majestic is His Glory—does not sleep, nor is it fitting for Him to sleep. He raises the scale and lowers it. The deeds of the night are raised to Him before the day, and the deeds of the day before the night. His veil is light—or fire. Were He to remove it, the radiant splendors of His Face would burn up everyone reached by His sight.”
