752 — Al-Firyābī informed us, saying: Ishāq ibn Mūsā al-Ansārī narrated to us, saying: Anas—that is, ibn Iyād—narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Amr narrated to me, from Abū Salama, from Abū Hurayra, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
“Adam and Moses, peace be upon them both, argued their respective cases. Moses said, ‘Are you Adam, whom Allah, Glorious and Exalted, created with His Hand, breathed ⦗1180⦘ into you of His Spirit, settled in Paradise, and commanded the angels to prostrate before you?’” He then related the hadith.
This was Moses’ argument against Adam: that Allah, Glorious and Exalted, created him with His Hand. Adam’s argument against Moses, however, was that Allah, Glorious and Exalted, wrote the Torah for him with His Hand.
