745 — Abū Muhammad Abd Allah ibn Sālih al-Bukhārī informed us, saying: al-Hasan ibn Ali al-Hulwānī narrated to us, saying: Abū Tawbah al-Rabī ibn Nāfi narrated to us, from Baqiyyah ibn al-Walīd, who said: Artāh ibn al-Mundhir narrated to us, from Mujāhid, from Ibn Umar, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“Indeed, the first thing Allah created was the Pen. He took it in His right Hand—and both His Hands are right Hands. He said: The Pen then recorded the world and every deed that would be performed therein, whether righteous or wicked, wet or dry, and enumerated it in the Record. Then he said: Recite, if you wish: ‘This is Our Record, which speaks against you with the truth. We indeed had everything you did transcribed’ [al-Jāthiyah: 29]. Can a transcription be made from anything other than a matter already concluded?”
