739 — And Jafar ibn Muhammad al-Sandalī narrated to us, saying: Zuhayr ibn Muhammad ⦗1168⦘ al-Marwazī narrated to us, saying: al-Dahhāk ibn Makhlad informed us, from Sufyān, from Mansūr, from Ibrāhīm, from Ubayda, from Abd Allah, who said: A man from among the People of the Book—I believe he said a Jew or a Christian—came to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) and said, “Indeed, on the Day of Resurrection, Allah—exalted is His praise—will place the heavens and the earth upon one finger, the mountains and the trees upon one finger, and the water and the moist earth upon one finger. Then He will say, ‘I am the King.’” I believe he said it twice. He said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) laughed until his molars became visible, then recited this verse: “They did not esteem Allah as He deserves to be esteemed” [al-Anām: 91].
