738 — And Abū Abd Allah Muhammad ibn Makhlad al-Attār narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn al-Walīd al-Busrī narrated to us, saying: Yahyā ibn Saīd al-Qattān narrated to us, from Sufyān ⦗1167⦘—meaning al-Thawrī—who said: Mansūr and Sulaymān—meaning al-Amash—narrated to us, from Ibrāhīm, from Ubayda, from Abd Allah: A Jew came to the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) and said, “O Muhammad, Allah, Glorious and Majestic, holds the heavens upon one finger, the earths upon one finger, the mountains upon one finger, the trees upon one finger, and all created beings upon one finger. Then He says, ‘I am the King.’” He said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) laughed until his molars became visible and said, “They did not esteem Allah as He deserves to be esteemed. On the Day of Resurrection, the whole earth will be in His grasp, and the heavens will be folded in His right hand.” Yahyā ibn Saīd al-Qattān said: Fudayl ibn Iyād added to it, from Mansūr, from Ibrāhīm, from Ubayda, from Abd Allah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) laughed in affirmation.
