733 — Jaʿfar ibn Muhammad al-Sandalī narrated to us, saying: al-Hasan ibn Muhammad al-Zaʿfarānī narrated to us, saying: Yaʿqūb ibn Ishāq al-Hadramī narrated to us, saying: Hammād ibn Salamah narrated to us, from ʿAlī ibn Zayd, from Umm Muhammad al-Qurashiyyah, from ʿĀʾishah (may Allah be pleased with her), who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) would say, “O Turner of hearts, keep my heart firm upon Your religion.” I asked, “O Messenger of Allah, do you fear?” He replied, “What could make me feel secure, when the hearts of Allah’s servants lie between two fingers of the Most Merciful—Mighty and Majestic is He? Whenever He wills to turn a servant’s heart, He turns it.”
