714 — Jaʿfar ibn Muhammad al-Sandalī also narrated to us, saying: Zuhayr ibn Muhammad al-Marwazī narrated to us, saying: Muʿāwiya ibn ʿAmr informed us, saying: Zāʾida narrated to us, saying: Ibrāhīm al-Hajarī narrated to us, from Abū al-Ahwas, from ʿAbd Allāh—meaning Ibn Masʿūd—from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, who said: “During the final third of the night, Allah, glorious is His Majesty, opens the gates of heaven. He then descends to the lowest heaven, extends His hand, glorious is His Majesty, and says: ‘Is there any servant who will ask Me, that I may give him?’ This continues until dawn breaks.”
