713 — Abū Bakr ibn Abī Dāwūd also informed us, saying: Hārūn ibn Ishāq and ʿAlī ibn al-Mundhir al-Tarīqī narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Fudayl narrated to us, from Ibrāhīm al-Hajarī, from Abū al-Ahwas, from ʿAbd Allāh—meaning Ibn Masʿūd—who said: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: “During the final third of the night, Allah, glorious is His Majesty, opens the gates of heaven. He then descends to the lowest heaven and extends His hands”—ʿAlī ibn al-Mundhir said, “His hand”—“and says: ‘Is there any servant who will ask Me, that I may give him?’” He said: “He continues thus until dawn breaks.”
