702 — Abū al-Qāsim ʿAbd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz al-Baghawī narrated to us, saying: Abū al-Rabīʿ al-Zahrānī narrated to us, saying: Fulayh ibn Sulaymān narrated to us, from al-Zuhrī, from Abū Salama and Abū ʿAbd Allah al-Agharr, a companion of Abū Hurayra, both of whom heard Abū Hurayra say: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: “Our Lord, glorious is His majesty, descends every night to the lowest heaven when the last third of the night remains and says: ‘Whoever asks Me, I shall give him; whoever calls upon Me, I shall answer him; and whoever seeks My forgiveness, I shall forgive him.’” For that reason, they favored prayer in the latter part of the night over its earlier part.
