697 — Abū Muhammad ʿAbd Allah ibn al-ʿAbbās al-Tayālisī also narrated to us: Ishāq ibn Mansūr al-Kawsaj narrated to us, saying: I said to Ahmad—that is, Ibn Hanbal: “Do you not affirm these hadiths: ‘Our Lord, blessed and exalted is He, descends every night to the lowest heaven when the final third of the night remains’; that the people of Paradise will see Him—that is, their Lord, mighty and majestic; ‘Do not revile the face, for Allah, mighty and majestic, created Adam in His image’; that the Fire complained to its Lord, mighty and majestic, until He placed His Foot in it; and that Moses slapped the Angel of Death?” Ahmad ⦗1128⦘ said: “All of this is authentic.” Ishāq said: “This is authentic, and none rejects it except an innovator or a person of unsound judgment.”
