695 – Abū Hafs ʿUmar ibn Ayyūb al-Saqatī narrated to us: Abū Maʿmar al-Qatīʿī narrated to us: ʿAbbād—meaning Ibn al-ʿAwwām—said: Sharīk came to us in Wāsit, and we said to him, “Among us are people who reject these hadiths stating that Allah, exalted and glorified is He, descends to the lowest heaven.” Sharīk replied, “Those who brought us these hadiths are the same people who transmitted from the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, the sunnahs concerning prayer, fasting, zakat, and pilgrimage. Indeed, it is through these hadiths that we have come to know Allah, exalted and glorified is He.”
