689 — Ibrāhīm ibn Mūsā al-Jawzī informed us: Yūsuf ibn Mūsā al-Qattān narrated to us: Alī ibn Āsim narrated to us, from al-Fadl ibn Īsā al-Raqāshī: Muhammad ibn al-Munkadir narrated to me: Jābir ibn Abd Allah narrated to me, saying: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

“When Allah, Mighty and Majestic, spoke to Moses, peace be upon him, from the Mount, He spoke to him with speech different from that with which He had spoken to him on the day He called him. Moses said to Him, ‘O Lord, is this Your speech with which You have spoken to me?’ He said, ‘O Moses, I have spoken to you only with the strength of ten thousand tongues, while the strength of all tongues belongs to Me—and I am mightier still.’”
