685 — Al-Firyābī informed us: Wahb ibn Baqiyya al-Wāsitī narrated to us: Khālid—meaning Ibn Abd Allāh al-Wāsitī—informed us, from Muhammad ibn Amr, from Abu Salama, from Abu Hurayra, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

“Adam and Moses argued their cases. Moses said, ‘Are you the one whom Allah created with His Hand, into whom He breathed of His spirit, whom He admitted into Paradise, and before whom He commanded the angels to prostrate—then expelled you from it?’

Adam said to Moses, ‘Are you the one whom Allah chose for His message, drew near for private converse, spoke to directly, and to whom He sent down the Torah?’”

And he mentioned the hadith.
