681 — Abu Muhammad ʿAbd Allah ibn al-ʿAbbas al-Tayālisī narrated to us, saying: Ishāq ibn Mansūr al-Kawsaj narrated to us, saying: Ahmad said: ʿAbd al-Rahmān ibn Mahdī said, “Whoever says, ‘Allah, Mighty and Majestic, did not speak to Moses,’ is to be called to repent. If he repents, that is accepted; otherwise, he is to be killed.”

Muhammad ibn al-Husayn, may Allah have mercy on him, said: As for the reports from the Sunnah that elucidate what was revealed in the Quran—namely, that Allah, Mighty and Majestic, spoke to Moses ⦗1111⦘, peace be upon him, with no messenger from His creation between them—exalted is Allah above what is alleged by the heretic whom the devils have made their plaything:
