659 — Abū Bakr ibn Zakariyyā al-Mutarriz narrated to us, saying: al-Fadl ibn Sahl narrated to us, saying: Abū Āsim narrated to us, from Sufyān al-Thawrī, from Amr ibn Murrah, from Abū Ubaydah, from Abū Mūsā, who said: The Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—stood among us to deliver four statements. He said: “Indeed, Allah—Mighty and Majestic is He—does not sleep, nor does it befit Him to sleep. He raises the scale, and by it He brings low. The deeds of the night are raised to Him ⦗1084⦘ before those of the day, and the deeds of the day before those of the night. His veil is fire; were He to remove it, the splendors of His Face would burn everyone whom His sight reaches.”
