643 — Jafar ibn Muhammad al-Sandalī narrated to us, saying: Zuhayr ibn Muhammad al-Marwazī narrated to us, saying: Abū Nuaym narrated to us, saying: Ismāīl ibn Abd al-Malik ibn Abī al-Sufayrā narrated to us, from Ali ibn Rabīa, who said: Ali—may Allah be pleased with him—had me ride behind him and took me along the edge of al-Harra. He then raised his head toward the sky and said, “O Allah, forgive me my sins, for none but You forgives them.” Then he turned toward me and laughed. I spoke to him, and he related a report similar to the preceding hadith.
