639 — Ja‘far ibn Muhammad al-Sandalī narrated to us, saying: Zuhayr ibn Muhammad al-Marwazī informed us, saying: Alī ibn Uthmān al-Lāhiqī informed us, saying: Hammād ibn Salama narrated to us, saying: Ya‘lā ibn Atā’, from Wakī‘ ibn Udus, ⦗1058⦘ from Abū Razīn al-Uqaylī, that the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—said: “Our Lord—Glorious is His Majesty—laughed at His servants’ despair, though the change He brings is near.” Abū Razīn said: I asked, “O Messenger of Allah, does the Lord—Glorious is His Majesty—laugh?” He replied, “Yes.” And we shall never be deprived of good from a Lord who laughs.
