638 — Abū Bakr Abd Allāh ibn Muhammad ibn Abd al-Hamīd al-Wāsitī narrated to us, saying: Abd al-Wahhāb al-Warrāq narrated to us, saying: Yazīd ibn Hārūn narrated to us, saying: Hammād ibn Salama informed us, ⦗1057⦘ from Ya‘lā ibn Atā’, from Wakī‘ ibn Udus, from his paternal uncle Abū Razīn al-Uqaylī, who said: The Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—said: “Our Lord—Glorious is His Majesty—laughs at His servants’ despair, though the change He brings is near.” He said: I asked, “O Messenger of Allah, does the Lord—Glorious is His Majesty—laugh?” He replied, “Yes.” I said, “We shall never be deprived of good from a Lord who laughs.”
