633 — Abū ‘Abd Allah Ahmad ibn al-Hasan ibn ‘Abd al-Jabbār al-Sūfī informed us, saying: Dāwūd ibn ‘Amr al-Dabbī narrated to us, saying: Ibn Abī al-Zinād narrated to us, from his father, from al-A‘raj, from Abū Hurayra, who said: The Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—said: “Allah Most High laughs at two men, one of whom kills the other, yet both enter Paradise. The first fights in the cause of Allah, is killed, and thus attains martyrdom. Allah—Glorified and Exalted—then accepts the other’s repentance; he embraces Islam, fights in the cause of Allah, is killed, and thus attains martyrdom.”
