609 — Abū Bakr ibn Abī Dāwūd narrated to us, saying: al-Hasan ibn Yahyā ibn Kathīr al-Anbarī narrated to us, saying: My father, Yahyā ibn Kathīr, narrated to me, saying: al-Mutamir ibn Sulaymān narrated to us, from his father, from Aslam al-Ijlī, from ⦗1019⦘ Abū Murāya, from Abū Mūsā al-Asharī, from the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—who said:

“While he was teaching them something concerning their religion, their eyes suddenly became fixed upward. He asked, ‘What has drawn your eyes upward?’

“They replied, ‘We were looking at the moon.’

“He said, ‘How, then, will you be when you see Allah, Mighty and Majestic, plainly?’”
