578 — Abū al-Qāsim Abd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn Abd al-Azīz al-Baghawī narrated to us: Hanbal ibn Ishāq ibn Hanbal narrated to us: I heard Abū Abd Allah say, “The Jahmiyya say that Allah will not be seen in the Hereafter, whereas Allah Most High says, ‘No indeed! On that Day they will be veiled from their Lord’ [Those Who Give Short Measure: 15]. This can only mean that Allah Most High will be seen. He Most High also says, ‘On that Day some faces will be radiant, looking upon their Lord’ [Resurrection: 23]. This refers to looking upon Allah Most High. ⦗987⦘ Moreover, the hadiths narrated from the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—state, ‘You will see your Lord.’ They have been transmitted on sound authority and through chains of transmission that cannot be impugned. The Quran bears witness that Allah Most High will be seen in the Hereafter.”
