54 — Abū Muhammad Abd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn Sālih al-Bukhārī informed us, saying ⦗358⦘: Abd Allah ibn Umar al-Kūfī narrated to us: Wakī narrated to us, from Jarīr ibn Hāzim and Abū Amr ibn al-Alā al-Nahwī, from Ibn Sīrīn, from Ubayda al-Salmānī, from Ali—may Allah be pleased with him—who said: The Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—said:
“A people will emerge among whom will be a man whose hand is short, or small and contracted, or incompletely formed. Were it not that you might become boastful, I would tell you what Allah Most High has promised, through His Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—to those who kill them.”
Ubayda said: I asked Ali—may Allah be pleased with him—“Did you yourself hear this from the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him?”
He replied, “Yes, I heard it—by the Lord of the Kaaba. I heard it—yes, by the Lord of the Kaaba. I heard it—yes, by the Lord of the Kaaba—I heard it.”
