510 — Al-Firyābī informed us, saying: I heard Abū Hafs Amr ibn Alī say: I heard Muādh ibn Muādh relate the account of Amr ibn Ubayd: “If ‘May the hands of Abū ⦗916⦘ Lahab perish’ was in the Preserved Tablet, then Abū Lahab is in no way to blame.” Abū Hafs said: I mentioned this to Wakī ibn al-Jarrāh, and he said, “Whoever says this must be required to repent. If he repents, then so be it; otherwise, he is to be beheaded.”
