Al-Shariah li-al-AjurriAl-Ajurri

506 — Al-Firyābī informed us, saying: I heard Amr ibn Alī say: I heard Abū ⦗914⦘ Muhammad al-Ghanawī say: I asked Hammād ibn Salama, Hammād ibn Zayd, Yazīd ibn Zuray, Bishr ibn al-Mufaddal, and Mu‘tamir ibn Sulaymān about a man who claimed that he was able to will, within Allah Most High’s dominion, something that Allah did not will. Each of them said, “He is a disbeliever and a polytheist whose blood may lawfully be shed,” except Mu‘tamir, who said, “It is better for the ruler to call upon him to repent.”
