488 — Al-Firyābī informed us, saying: Muhammad ibn Musaffā narrated to us, saying: Baqiyyah ibn al-Walīd narrated to us, saying: Umar ibn Abd Allah, the client of Ghufrah, narrated to us from Muhammad ibn Kaʿb al-Qurazī, who said:

“If Allah Most High were to deny anyone a request, He would have denied Iblīs his request when he disobeyed Him, after He had expelled him from His Paradise, left him without hope of His mercy, and made him one who calls to error. Yet Iblīs asked Him to grant him respite until the Day they are resurrected, and He granted him respite. And if Allah were to accept anyone’s intercession concerning something not decreed in the Mother of the Book, He would have accepted Abraham’s intercession for his father when He took him as an intimate friend, and Muhammad’s ﷺ intercession for his uncle.”
